"The Hope of Our Time?"

You wowed the crowd
The world it seems
At your feet
Awe filled
In joy and tears
Placing hope
In a man
Who dares
To stand
For hope
For history
Yet frail
As they.
Can you be
The hope
Of our time?

Are saviours
Best human?
Divine?

Or both?

I'm just glad it's him and not me. Can you imagine the pressure?? I will pray for him like crazy.

Kel... yes, quite an ambivalence. very stirring though.

candy... you are so right! i can't imagine how much mental/emotional/physical strength a job like that would be. Just getting the laundry done is enough for me most days. ha!

Fantastic piece, obviously (I think) written for inauguration day in the US. Trouble is, I just found it today, and read it after Lenten evening prayer with Easter eyes.

Evening prayer with Easter eyes. Nice turn of phrase, hikerrev! Thinking on it.
